Furniture Setup is a Breeze When Planned

Before I move any actual furniture, I always test me design in digital. I Measure the room’s dimensions, noting the location of windows, doors, heat registers and electrical outlets, then draw up a floor plan using my computer software to draw the space and test various furniture configurations.

I will decide if I want a symmetrical arrangement if its a formal room or Asymmetrical arrangements to make a room feel more casual. I will place the largest pieces of furniture first, such as the sofa in the living room or the bed in the bedroom.

Here are some pictures of a resent furniture installation showing how smooth setup can be if planned.

MODEL HOME INSPIRATION

One thing that you will always notice about interior decorating is that designers will often play with a variety of fabrics to create the desired look. Fabrics are generally used to provide a splash of color or texture to the room and you can use fabrics to pull out the decor you are going for or simply to accent it.

When it comes to fabric, there are many selections to choose from and it may be hard to figure out which one works best for you home.  Not only should you think of the fabrics that are covering pillows and windows, to name a few places, but you should also think about the fabric that is covering the furniture. These are some pictures to help inspire you to develop your comfortable soft space.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE MOOD BOARD

This is a great demonstration of the power of planning using mood boards. Before even a single piece of furniture is ordered, its all planned on paper.

A mood board is furniture pictures, fabric swatches and accessory images grouped together in poster format to help show a homeowner what type of atmosphere the new decor will create. A mood board is extremely useful for establishing the aesthetic feel of the interior. The mood board is intentionally casual; it lets the me start with broad strokes and get feedback before too much time is invested in the wrong direction.

HOME OFFICE WITH A VIEW

THIS ROOM IS DESIGNED TO DOUBLE AS A HOME OFFICE AND A COZY SPOT TO READ A BOOK OR HAVE QUITE CONVERSATION WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

I wanted to create a sense of casual elegance and is what I feel makes a home office, cozy. It's creating a pleasant and inspiring working environment where your dreams turn into reality. The drapery style was specific to not block natural light with shades or light blocking curtains. When bright, soothing natural light flows over to your desk, you know working on your projects will seem like a breeze.
